We know vet care is expensive — the following info is just so you can make an informed decision on vaccinating your cat if it is possible for your particular budget. Please discuss the best vaccine schedule for your cat(s) with a licensed veterinary professional.
Thanks for participating in Spay It Forward! All cats who were due for each particular vaccine received:
- *FVRCP vaccine (protects against 3 common viruses)
- Rabies vaccine
💉 *1-Month Booster: The first time a cat is vaccinated with the FVRCP vaccine, the cat needs a booster in 3–4 weeks to work best. The booster helps make sure your cat is fully protected. *(your newly spayed or neutered cat likely should get this booster)
💉 *1 Year Booster Needed: In a year’s time, both the FVRCP and the Rabies vaccine can be boostered again. Speak to your vet about the possibility of getting 3 year vaccines. They won’t give a 3 year booster without proof of having received a vaccine one year previously. Keep all of kitty’s medical records in a file.
💉 *3 Year Booster Needed: FVRCP and Rabies can be boostered every 3 years. There is scientific evidence that most cats don’t need a lifetime of vaccine injections.
* Important note: If your cat was spayed or neutered at the SNIP Clinic in Meridian within the past year, you can utilize their “Wellness” clinic, and get an FVRCP booster for $20. That saves you on the $45 exam fee since a vet at that location has seen your cat within the past year.
